Tragedy struck early this morning, May 16, when a collision between two scooters resulted in the death of a pillion rider. The incident occurred at Kallapu Junction, where a scooter traveling from Mangaluru to Thokkottu collided with another scooter crossing the highway.
Victim and Circumstances
The deceased, identified as Ahmed Nishad (22) from Kodi, Kotepura, Ullal, was traveling as a pillion rider with Sayyed Hafiz on a scooter around 4 am when the collision transpired. Both riders were thrown to the road upon impact, with Nishad sustaining fatal injuries. Despite efforts, he succumbed to his injuries in the hospital. Fortunately, Hafiz escaped with minor injuries.
Injuries and Hospitalization
The other scooter rider, Aboobacker Siddik from Kuthar Padavu, suffered serious injuries and was admitted to the hospital for medical treatment.
Police Action
A case has been registered at the Mangaluru South traffic police station to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision and determine any factors contributing to the tragic outcome.
