A sudden burst of strong winds and heavy downpour on the evening of March 12 led to a coconut tree collapsing onto a residence in Bastipadpu near Ullal, causing extensive structural destruction.

The mishap occurred at the home of Vishwanath Thevul, situated along U P Mallya Road. As the storm gained momentum, intense winds uprooted the tree, which came crashing down onto the rooftop. Despite the household being occupied at the time, all family members escaped unharmed.

The force of the fall severely damaged the house, reducing the roof to rubble. The financial setback is estimated to be in lakhs, adding to the distress of the affected family.

In the aftermath of the incident, Vishwanath Thevul has formally lodged a complaint with the Ullal City Municipal Council, urging officials to assess the damage and extend necessary support.
