Sullia: A rubber smoke house belonging to Radhakrishna of Pindimane, Aranthodu village, was gutted in a fire late on Saturday night, September 13, causing heavy losses.
Property worth ₹1 lakh destroyed
In the mishap, arecanut and rubber sheets valued at around ₹1,00,000 were destroyed. The fire broke out suddenly, engulfing the smoke house and damaging the stored produce before it could be brought under control.
Firefighters rush to the spot
On receiving information, Assistant Station Officer Kiran Kumar and staff from the Sullia fire station rushed to the spot. They managed to douse the flames and prevent the fire from spreading further.
Conclusion
While no casualties were reported, the loss of agricultural produce has dealt a blow to the owner. Authorities are yet to ascertain the exact cause of the fire.
