A massive fire broke out in a plastic bag warehouse in Badakabail, Bantwal taluk, late Monday night, destroying the entire structure and causing damage to a nearby house.
C.R. Ranganath, Regional Fire Officer (Mangaluru Range), stated that upon receiving the distress call at 11:20 PM, fire tenders from Kadri and Bantwal fire stations rushed to the scene. Firefighters also used water from a nearby well to control the flames and prevent the fire from spreading to nearby houses.
The warehouse, owned by Abdul Khader, had an asbestos sheet roof, which collapsed due to the intense heat. The exact cause of the fire remains unknown, though the owner suspects it was triggered by a short circuit.
Local MLA Rajesh Naik U visited the site to assess the damage.
