Mangaluru: A case has been filed at Panambur Police Station against former MLA B.A. Moydin Bava and two others for allegedly obstructing a government officer from performing his official duties. The complaint was lodged by the Secretary of the New Mangalore Port Authority (NMPA).
The incident occurred on the night of June 9 around 8 pm, when Bava, accompanied by two associates, reportedly entered the Vice President’s office at NMPA without prior notice. They allegedly confronted the official regarding the approval of a work bill and disrupted his ongoing duties.
The complaint further stated that Bava and his aides not only hindered the officer’s work but also stopped him from exiting the premises. Even after the official left the building, the accused allegedly followed him, intercepted his vehicle, and engaged in a verbal altercation while he was en route to attend another assignment.
Following the complaint, police have registered a case under Sections 224, 221, 132, 126, 127, and 226 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Authorities confirmed that a thorough investigation is now in progress to ascertain the facts and determine further legal steps.
Officials have not yet made any arrests in the case, but sources say statements from all parties involved will be recorded soon. The incident has raised concerns about interference in public office operations and prompted calls for ensuring the protection of government staff.
