A family in Ganjimath is enduring extreme distress after both wells on their property became unusable due to severe water contamination. The pollution is allegedly caused by a neighboring private hall, whose drainage system is reportedly connected to the residential compound.

The problem surfaced a couple of years ago, when the first well was rendered unsafe. In response, the residents built a second well, hoping to restore clean water access. However, that too became polluted under similar circumstances, leaving them without any source of potable water.

While the property owner currently lives overseas, his brother Zakir has been fighting a lonely battle for justice back home. He has made numerous appeals to the authorities, stressing the urgent need for clean drinking water. Despite repeated complaints and supporting evidence confirming the water is hazardous for use, the situation remains unresolved.

Zakir has submitted several petitions to the district administration and has written to U T Khader, the minister overseeing the district. Yet, there has been no official intervention or penal action taken against the hall responsible for the alleged contamination.

Frustrated by the inaction, the family and local supporters are now demanding immediate provision of alternative water facilities. They are also calling for strict enforcement against the hall owners to prevent further damage and suffering.

This prolonged negligence by the authorities has sparked growing concern among residents, who fear the issue may lead to a public health crisis if ignored any longer.
