Customs officials at Mangaluru International Airport confiscated gold and e-cigarette pods from two travelers arriving from Dubai.

Authorities observed unusual behavior in two passengers, both hailing from Kasargod, who had landed on an Air India Express flight. Acting on suspicion, they intercepted the duo for a detailed inspection.

During the investigation, three oval-shaped items were retrieved from within their bodies. These contained 24-carat gold weighing 625 grams, with an estimated value of ₹48.75 lakh.

In addition to the gold, officials uncovered 147 nicotine liquid e-cigarette pod refills hidden in a carton box checked in as baggage. The pods were valued at ₹1.41 lakh.

Customs continue to monitor smuggling attempts closely, ensuring strict action against unlawful imports.
