On Friday, July 12, office-bearers and members of the State Government Employees Association gathered at the taluk administration building to petition Tahsildar D Archana Bhat for the fulfillment of the recommendations from the seventh pay commission report.
Earlier, the association had approached Bantwala MLA Rajesh Naik on Thursday, seeking his support in advocating for government employees during the upcoming assembly session. Tahsildar D Archana Bhat received their petition and assured consideration of their demands.
Addressing the assembly, union president Umanatha Rai Mera underscored the pivotal role of government employees despite the statewide vacancy crisis of 2.6 lakh positions. He emphasized their significant contributions to the state’s development index and GST revenue collection. Therefore, he urged for the immediate implementation of the State Seventh Pay Commission’s report via a government order. Additionally, he called for the abolition of the National Pension System (NPS) in favor of reinstating the old pension scheme and the implementation of the Karnataka State Health Sanjeevini scheme.
Key figures present at the gathering included union secretary Santosh Kumar Thumbe, K S P S T A district president Shivprasad Shetty, treasurer Basaiya Alimatty, vice-presidents Manjunath K H and Shamanth Kumar, along with representatives from various associations such as High School Teachers, Pensioners, Physical Education Teachers, Akshara Dasoha, and Village Administration Officers.
The event concluded with a call for governmental action to address the concerns of state employees, highlighting their essential role in public service.
