Bantwal – Abdul Rehman, the 32-year-old pickup driver who was recently brutally murdered, had been building a new home next to his current residence. Friends and family say he was looking forward to moving in and starting a fresh chapter with his wife and two small children — a 3-year-old and a baby aged just 1 year and 8 months. That dream now lies shattered.
Locals remember Rehman as a diligent, peace-loving worker, who got along with everyone in the neighbourhood. He had no police record or known disputes, which has deepened suspicion of a larger plot behind his killing.
In a painful statement, his father Abdul Khader said, “My son never troubled anyone. If someone had an issue with him, they could’ve just hit him. But why murder? If they wanted blood, they should’ve taken mine instead.” Choking with emotion, he added, “I saw him around 3 pm… after that, he never returned. We’re sick—who will bring us medicine now?”
Community leader Abdul Rasheed Hanifi, vice president of SKSSF Mangaluru zone, has demanded the case be transferred to the National Investigation Agency (NIA), citing the possibility of a deeper conspiracy. He also urged the government to provide Rs 1 crore compensation to the grieving family and offer a job to a family member.
“This money won’t bring him back, but the family deserves to live with dignity,” Hanifi stated, urging senior government leaders to personally visit the family and ensure justice.
