The intense downpour that struck the coastal region on Wednesday night caused extensive destruction, leading to financial losses running into lakhs. Several villages bore the brunt of the storm, with homes and plantations suffering significant damage.

In Moodupadukodi village, Jayant Gowda’s house sustained partial damage due to the relentless rain. Meanwhile, in Chennaitodi village, the storm devastated areca and banana plantations owned by Shivray Nayak, impacting local livelihoods.

Pilimogaru village was also affected, where multiple houses reported damage. The residence of Sunnaradapoli Sundara and the areca plantation of Dapparbailu Venkappa Shetty suffered substantial losses. Additionally, Prabhakshira’s home in Pilimogaru faced structural issues, with a nearby wall collapsing due to the heavy showers.

In Kasba village, a large fallen tree damaged the house of Chikka, a resident of Arabbi Guddenivasi, adding to the widespread destruction.

Following the calamity, officials from the Revenue Department in Bantwal taluk visited the affected areas to assess the extent of the losses and verify damages. Authorities are expected to take necessary relief measures to assist the impacted residents.
