In response to the relentless downpour across Dakshina Kannada, Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan has declared a two-day holiday for all schools, anganwadi centres, and PU colleges in the district.

The closure, applicable to both government-aided and private institutions, will be in effect on May 27 and 28, 2025. The decision comes amid continued red alert warnings across Karnataka’s three coastal districts, which remain in place until May 28.

Mangaluru city and surrounding areas witnessed intense rainfall on Monday, resulting in widespread waterlogging and flooding in several low-lying localities.

Authorities are urging residents to stay indoors and avoid non-essential travel as the region braces for more rain.
