A tragic incident occurred in Moodbidire on Tuesday when a truck from Tamil Nadu collided with the ancient elephant gate of the Chautara Palace, causing significant damage to one side of the historic structure. The accident was attributed to the driver’s carelessness.

Fortunately, palace sources confirmed that the parties involved have agreed to restore the elephant gate to its original glory, preserving its heritage, beauty, and significance. The gate holds historical importance and had undergone traditional decoration and restoration just a decade ago.

The incident has raised concerns about the vulnerability of cultural landmarks to accidental damage and the need for increased vigilance to protect these treasures. Restoration efforts are expected to commence soon to revive the gate’s original splendour.
