Mangaluru – An illegal cow transportation operation was uncovered near Guruvayankare, Belthangady, when activists from a Hindu organization intercepted an Innova car carrying cattle in a suspicious manner.
Investigations revealed that the vehicle was operating with a fake number plate, allegedly to conceal its activities.
Inside the car, cows were found cramped and transported in a cruel, unsafe manner, raising concerns over animal welfare violations.
Of the three men suspected to be involved in illegal cow slaughter, two attacked police officers during the operation and managed to escape. One suspect was apprehended and taken into custody for further interrogation.
Police have launched a manhunt for the absconding suspects and are probing the source and intended destination of the cattle.
