Mangaluru: In a swift operation based on reliable intelligence, Sullia Police led by PSI Santosh Kumar BP (Law & Order) seized two trucks transporting laterite stones without valid documentation. The bust occurred at Narkodu in Aletti village.
According to authorities, both trucks were found carrying red laterite stones, allegedly sourced from an unknown and unauthorized site. The stones are suspected to have been illegally extracted and moved without permits.
The police immediately detained the vehicles and their drivers for further inquiry. A case has been filed at Sullia Police Station under multiple legal provisions, including Section 303(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Section 4(1) of the *Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act (MMRD)**, and relevant sections—3, 44 & 66(1)—of the Karnataka Minor Mineral Concession Rules. Additionally, Section 192(a) of the Indian Motor Vehicles Act has been invoked.
Officials confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and additional legal steps will be taken based on the findings. The crackdown highlights the continuing effort by law enforcement to curb unauthorized mining and protect natural resources.
