Bantwal – Authorities in Bantwal taluk have unearthed an illegal structure and unauthorized electricity connection on government land during a joint inspection in Salethur Agari, Kolnadu village.

Acting on a directive from the Mangaluru Assistant Commissioner and following a complaint by local resident Karayi Khalid, officials from the Revenue Department, MESCOM, and the Gram Panchayat carried out a surprise visit.

The inspection revealed that a unit named ‘Hollow Block’, operating from Survey No. 512/6 for the past eight years, had been illegally occupying government land. The operator, identified as Karayi Abdul Karim, reportedly built the shed without securing any legal approvals or land ownership documents.

Despite lacking formal land rights, the unit had obtained a temporary electricity connection from MESCOM—raising further questions about procedural lapses.

The inspection team comprised Vitla Revenue Inspector Ravi M N, Kolnadu Village Accountant Karibasappa, and Panchayat Development Officer Lavanya. Authorities are expected to take legal action based on the findings.
