The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has raised alarms for Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts as heavy rainfall is forecasted for Monday, July 15. An orange alert has also been issued for the subsequent days from July 16 to 18. Sunday saw persistent rainfall across the region.

In response to the imminent threat highlighted by the red alert, local administrations in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi have taken preemptive steps to minimize potential risks. Residents are strongly advised to remain indoors and refrain from unnecessary travel. Emergency services, including police, fire departments, and medical teams, are on standby to swiftly address any emergencies caused by the inclement weather.

Authorities have cautioned fishermen against venturing into the sea due to anticipated rough conditions in the coming days. Those residing in low-lying areas and near riverbanks are urged to relocate to safer places to mitigate flood risks. Collaborative efforts with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are underway to ensure preparedness for potential evacuation and rescue operations.
