The India Paddle Festival, scheduled from March 7 to 9 at Sasihithlu Beach, Mangaluru, is set to feature a special attraction—an Adventure Film Festival on March 8, offering a unique beachside open-air cinema experience.
Rammohan Paranjape, director of the Surfing Swami Foundation, shared that this marks the second edition of the Mantra Adventure Film Festival, showcasing 10-12 carefully curated adventure films from across the country.
“Our goal is to introduce viewers to a variety of adventure and extreme sports practiced in India. The lineup includes short films, ranging from 5 to 40 minutes, covering ultramarathons, rock climbing, surfing, skateboarding, and snowboarding,” he explained.
Among the featured films are Ganga Girls (a documentary on women kayakers), Life Uphill – Tenzin Dolma Story, Meghalaya Adventure Tourism Film, Dragon’s Lair – Trad Climbing in Sethan, and Abus Modrop – MTB.
The festival is a one-of-a-kind event in South India, celebrating thrill-seekers and outdoor adventurers. This year’s edition promises all-new content, ensuring an exciting experience for attendees. Filmmakers will also engage with the audience, offering deeper insights into their works.
Since the festival coincides with International Women’s Day, it will spotlight women athletes in adventure sports. Mass communication and journalism students from local colleges have been invited. Entry is free, and screenings will begin at 7 PM after the SUP races.
The India Paddle Festival is India’s only international Stand-Up Paddle (SUP) event, positioning Mangaluru as a prime surfing and SUP destination.
