The results of the 2024-25 second-year Pre-University Course (PUC) examinations were announced on Tuesday, April 8, with many students celebrating their success and others reflecting on areas for improvement. This year’s results have reaffirmed that success is not limited to the privileged, as children of daily wage labourers and truck drivers have topped the state, showcasing that hard work and dedication can overcome all challenges.
One such inspiring story is that of Manya S Poojary, a student from Sri Durga Parameshwari Temple Pre-University College in Mandarthi, Udupi district. Manya, who lost her father at a young age, achieved an impressive 95.16% in the II PUC exams, making her mother’s sacrifices truly worthwhile.
Manya’s mother, a daily wage labourer at a cashew factory, has been tirelessly supporting her daughters’ education. Despite not attending private tuition, Manya relied solely on her college lecturers for guidance and dedicated herself to self-study, achieving remarkable success.
Her exceptional performance earned her the top rank in the commerce stream at her college. Manya now plans to pursue Chartered Accountancy (CA) and has already taken the first step towards achieving that goal.
The principal, teaching, and non-teaching staff of Sri Durga Parameshwari Temple PU College have all congratulated Manya on her achievements, which have brought immense pride to both her family and the institution.
Manya’s journey is a powerful reminder that determination, resilience, and the support of loved ones can help overcome even the most challenging circumstances.
