Mangaluru: A 31-year-old youth from Kadaba in Dakshina Kannada district was found dead under mysterious circumstances in Ireland, with local police suspecting suicide. The incident has left his family and relatives in shock.

The deceased has been identified as Sanjo Sunil (31), a native of Vimalagiri in Kutrupadi village of Kadaba taluk. He was residing in Dublin, Ireland, where he was found dead in his room earlier this week.

According to initial reports, Sanjo was found hanging inside his residence while his wife was away at work. Local authorities were alerted after he failed to respond to calls, following which emergency services reached the spot. He was declared dead at the scene.

Married a year ago

Sanjo had married a woman from Kadaba about a year ago. His wife is employed as a nurse in Ireland. After their marriage, the couple had been living separately for some time due to work commitments.

Family sources said Sanjo had previously been employed in Israel for several years. A few months ago, he moved to Ireland to join his wife and explore better work opportunities. Relatives stated that he had been trying to settle into a new job and environment in recent months.

Those close to the family described him as soft-spoken and hardworking. The sudden news of his death has left the family devastated, especially as there had been no prior indication of serious personal or health issues.

Police investigation under way

While Irish police suspect suicide based on the preliminary assessment, officials are also probing other possible angles as part of standard investigative procedures. A detailed post-mortem examination is expected to determine the exact cause of death.

Authorities have reportedly begun inquest proceedings as per local laws. Statements from family members and acquaintances are likely to be recorded to ascertain if there were any external factors contributing to the incident.

Sources said the Indian Embassy in Ireland has been informed, and necessary formalities are being completed to facilitate the repatriation of the mortal remains to India. Family members in Kadaba are awaiting further updates from Irish authorities regarding the procedures involved.

Community in shock

News of Sanjo’s death spread quickly in Kutrupadi and surrounding areas, where he was well known. Local residents expressed grief over the tragic incident, describing it as a huge loss for the family.

Several youths from Dakshina Kannada have migrated to foreign countries in search of employment opportunities, particularly to West Asia and Europe. Incidents involving sudden deaths abroad often pose challenges for families due to legal and logistical procedures.

Relatives said they are in constant touch with his wife and are extending support during this difficult time. The family has appealed for privacy as they cope with the loss.

Awaiting further clarity

As investigations continue in Ireland, officials have stated that conclusions will be drawn only after completion of all formalities, including forensic analysis and inquest findings. While suicide is suspected at this stage, authorities have not ruled out other possibilities.

The incident serves as a grim reminder of the emotional and social pressures faced by migrant workers adapting to new environments. The family is now focused on bringing Sanjo’s mortal remains back home for the last rites.

Further details are awaited as the investigation progresses.
