Karkala: In an inspiring story of perseverance and determination, Vinuta, a young girl from Renjala in Karkala taluk, has overcome financial challenges to secure the Chief Minister’s scholarship, enabling her to pursue a career in medicine.
The award was presented during the Democracy Day celebrations at the Vidhana Soudha banquet hall, where the state government recognised the top 15 students from government residential schools across Karnataka. Each recipient received a scholarship of ₹1 lakh from Chief Minister Siddaramaiah.
From Renjala to Vidhana Soudha honour
Vinuta, daughter of Leela and Chinga, has been an outstanding student since her early schooling years. Studying at the Miyaru Morarji Desai Residential School, she excelled in her PUC examinations with an impressive 96%, securing the first rank at her institution.
Her consistent performance earned her a place among the top achievers of the state. Chief Minister Siddaramaiah personally handed her the award, lauding her determination to succeed despite facing hardships.
Scholarship to power medical aspirations
With the support of the scholarship, Vinuta has already enrolled at the Sharada Yoga and Naturopathy Medical College in Mangaluru, where she hopes to build a career in medicine and healthcare.
Speaking at the event, government officials highlighted that the CM’s scholarship scheme is designed to empower bright students from underprivileged backgrounds, ensuring that financial constraints do not come in the way of their educational aspirations.
Recognition for government school achievers
The state government annually identifies and honours meritorious students from government residential schools, providing them with financial aid to pursue higher studies in professional fields. This year’s recipients, including Vinuta, represent different corners of Karnataka and have excelled in their chosen streams of study.
The recognition has not only brought pride to their families but has also motivated other students in similar backgrounds to aim higher and work diligently.
A symbol of hope
For Vinuta, the award is more than financial assistance—it is a validation of her hard work and a symbol of hope for many rural students who dream of careers in competitive fields like medicine. Her story is expected to inspire many more students in the years to come.
