On Saturday, Karnataka Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao unveiled a comprehensive coastal tourism calendar for Dakshina Kannada district aimed at attracting tourists year-round, including during festive seasons. The event took place during a program organized by the Coastal Karnataka Tourism Development Council, marking a pivotal step towards tourism development in the region.
Minister Rao emphasized Dakshina Kannada’s potential, comparable to tourist havens like Goa and Kerala, stressing the need to enhance facilities for visitors from within and outside the state. He highlighted that ensuring safety and security would be pivotal in nurturing tourism growth, pledging government support for sectoral development.
Lok Sabha member Capt. Brijesh Chowta lauded the launch of the web portal accompanying the calendar, foreseeing it as a catalyst for showcasing the district’s rich culture and diverse activities to a global audience. He expressed optimism about central government initiatives to further enhance local tourist spots.
Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan echoed the commitment to promote Dakshina Kannada as a tourist destination, underscoring the calendar’s role in highlighting the district’s vibrant festivals and events throughout the year. The web portal, integrated with essential tourist information, aims to facilitate seamless travel planning for visitors.
