In what is being hailed as the largest drug bust in Karnataka’s history, the Mangaluru CCB police have successfully dismantled a major narcotics network, seizing contraband worth an estimated ₹75 crore. The operation led to the arrest of two African women and a local youth.
Member of the Legislative Council (MLC), Dr. Manjunath Bhandari, praised the police department for their efforts, calling it a significant victory for Dakshina Kannada. He highlighted that the district had been grappling with a growing drug menace, which had instilled fear among the public. “This decisive action by the police sends a strong message,” he said.
Dr. Bhandari also extended his congratulations to the State Home Department, the police force, and Mangaluru Police Commissioner Anupam Agrawal, recognizing their dedication in addressing the drug trade. Mangaluru, renowned as an educational hub, had seen a worrying increase in illicit activities, raising concerns among parents of students from across the country. Dr. Bhandari emphasized that the police’s commitment to eradicating the drug trade is a vital step in restoring the city’s reputation and ensuring the safety of students.
He urged authorities to remain vigilant and continue their efforts in dismantling such networks, ensuring law and order in the region.
