The Konkan Railway Corporation Limited (KRCL) has stepped up its efforts to curb ticketless travel and ensure a smooth journey for genuine passengers. Since the start of the financial year 2025–26, the railway authority has conducted 3,765 intensive ticket-checking drives across its network.

During these checks, officials identified 40,602 cases of unauthorised or irregular travel. Penalties imposed on offenders resulted in a total fine collection of ₹2,37,11,161, reflecting the seriousness of the drive. The initiative is aimed at safeguarding the interests of passengers who travel with valid tickets while deterring irregular practices that cause inconvenience.

With the Ganesh Chaturthi festival around the corner, passenger footfall along the Konkan Railway route is expected to rise substantially. Anticipating this surge, KRCL has issued a clear advisory urging all travellers to purchase valid tickets in advance to avoid penalties and last-minute hassles.

The corporation has also assured the public that ticket checking drives will continue to remain stringent throughout the festive season. Officials emphasized that these checks are not only about revenue generation but also about ensuring fair, safe, and comfortable journeys for genuine travellers.

KRCL reiterated its commitment to making festive travel smoother and more organised. By maintaining vigilance, the railway corporation aims to discourage ticketless travel while enhancing the overall passenger experience on one of India’s busiest and most scenic railway routes.
