Mangaluru: The Konkani Natak Sabha (KNS) conducted the second round of its 61st annual singing competition on Sunday at Don Bosco Hall. The event, starting at 10 am, is part of KNS’s mission to nurture and promote Konkani music.
Proceedings began with the KNS anthem and a welcome by vice-president Floyd D’Mello Cascia, who greeted participants, guests, judges, and the audience. Chief guests Ivan Mascarenhas (Bejai) and Edith D’Souza (Angelore) joined office-bearers in lighting the lamp.
Judges Joshal Sweeda D’Souza, Zeena Pereira, Carol Sequeira, and Rynel Sequeira assessed 110 entries across solo and duet categories for age groups under 10, 10–15, and above 15.
KNS Manager Gerald Concessao oversaw event coordination, supported by committee members, local units, and technical expert Christopher Mascarenhas. Compering was handled by Edward Coelho and Anil D’Cunha, with a vote of thanks from Flavia Mascarenhas.
The grand finale is set for Sept 14 at Don Bosco Hall, where contestants must perform a full song using the munis track. Song repetition will not be allowed, and duet or group lineups must remain unchanged from earlier rounds.
Qualified participants have been announced across all categories, including solo, duet, mixed group, and married couple performances.
