A senior Congress leader arrived in Mangaluru with the intent to engage in dialogue and diffuse tensions, not to provoke hostility.
“I am here to address concerns, not create further unrest,” he remarked.
“An unfortunate event has occurred, but no one should act out of rage.”
He recalled a prior statement made during the Chief Minister’s visit, emphasizing that Dakshina Kannada must not be allowed to mirror Manipur’s turmoil.
“Why is this coastal district facing continuous disturbances when the rest of Karnataka remains stable?” he questioned.
He mentioned that the Chief Minister has pledged appropriate intervention. Speaking to Congress supporters, he stressed the need for restraint and fairness:
“Do not be provoked into emotional actions. We seek justice, regardless of religion, caste, or language.”
He advised party members not to quit impulsively and reaffirmed his long-standing commitment to the party and its ideals.
“We need everyone who believes in the Constitution and justice to stand firm,” he added.
Touching on the recent violent incidents, he condemned the manipulation of youth by certain political elements:
“The real culprits are hiding behind the scenes, while innocent youths are being jailed. The masterminds will be named soon.”
He concluded by urging law enforcement to act impartially and responsibly, assuring that truth will prevail with time.
