Mangaluru: Lourdes Central School (LCS) commemorated Ambedkar Jayanti with a heartfelt celebration that echoed the ideals of equality, justice, and dignity championed by Dr B.R. Ambedkar.
A special assembly by Class 10 students, led by Henry Mascarenhas, set the tone for the day. The gathering of students, staff, and school leadership began with the recitation of the Preamble to the Constitution — a solemn moment reinforcing India’s democratic values.
Student Advaith delivered a reflective passage emphasizing the importance of nurturing the mind as life’s highest goal. Tanmay, Aishwarya, and Manvi offered insightful tributes, narrating Ambedkar’s life journey and his enduring fight for social justice.
Principal Fr Johnson L Sequeira, along with vice principals and staff, joined in paying floral tribute to Dr Ambedkar. In his address, Fr Sequeira urged students to live by the values Dr Ambedkar stood for, reminding them that equality, compassion, and inclusivity must begin at the grassroots — in schools and homes.
The programme was gracefully anchored by Sanjana D’Silva, ensuring the event was both meaningful and engaging.
Neema Lobo, programme coordinator, guided the flow of the day’s proceedings.
The celebration not only honoured a national icon but also instilled in young minds the need to act justly, think freely, and stand firmly for human dignity.
