Bantwal: The Bantwal Rural Police have registered a case against a man for allegedly spreading false information and attempting to disturb communal harmony through a provocative video on social media.
Incident of cattle theft and slaughter
On the night of September 4, miscreants reportedly stole and slaughtered a cow near a cowshed adjacent to a house in Kadambu, Perne village, under Bantwal taluk. The incident caused concern among residents, prompting police action.
Provocative video surfaces
Following the incident, a video surfaced online in which Narasimha Shetty Mani allegedly made false claims about the case. Police said the video contained inflammatory remarks aimed at creating hatred and enmity between communities.
Officials noted that such statements, if left unchecked, could disrupt communal peace and potentially lead to unrest in society.
Case registered
Taking serious note of the video, Bantwal Rural Police registered a case under Crime No. 132/2025. A senior official confirmed that an investigation is underway to establish the extent of the misinformation campaign and the accused’s role in circulating the content.
