Amid rising strain along the Indo-Pak border and recent cross-border strikes, the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security has issued directives urging airports across the country to elevate security protocols. In line with this alert, Mangaluru International Airport has tightened its monitoring systems and introduced an additional layer of passenger screening, known as Secondary Ladder Point Security Checks (LPSC).
Explaining the revised safety measure, spokesperson for the airport, said passengers will first be screened by the CISF at the regular security gate. Then, just before boarding—whether through aerobridge or tarmac buses—airline personnel will carry out another round of frisking at the aircraft entry point. This move ensures added vigilance during final boarding procedures.
It was clarified that LPSC is not new or unique to Mangaluru—it’s a standard procedure applied across Indian airports during heightened alerts.
Amid rumours circulating online, Shenoy also clarified that the terminal area has never been freely open to visitors. Family and friends accompanying travelers are still allowed up to the departure lobby or arrival exit, in accordance with long-standing norms.
Passengers are being strongly advised to arrive early for their flights due to possible delays arising from the enhanced checks. Shenoy encouraged travelers to keep an eye on official social media pages for the latest travel and security updates.
