The Mangaluru Basketball Club (MBC) has achieved a remarkable feat by clinching the Karnataka Basketball League Championship for the fourth consecutive year. The tournament, organized by the Karnataka State Basketball Association, took place from April 3 to 6 at Bengaluru’s Kanteerava Stadium, with 42 teams from across the state competing for the prestigious title.
MBC not only lifted the championship trophy but also earned a cash prize of Rs 75,000. In a stellar individual achievement, Mangaluru’s Prasthik Kumar was named the Best Player of the tournament, further adding to the team’s glory.
MBC’s dominance throughout the league was undeniable:
- Semifinal League: MBC triumphed over Kuvempu Basketball Club (Gulbarga) 75-51, Mallasajan Dharwad 84-51, and VBC Mandya 90-58.
- Earlier League Matches: The team showcased its power by defeating YFBC Kolar (62-48), Inspire Dharwad (63-33), Mallasajan Dharwad (95-68), and Vijayanagara Mysuru (84-74), securing a spot in the semifinals.
This dominant performance cements MBC’s position as a powerhouse in Karnataka’s basketball scene, reaffirming their superiority and consistency in the sport.
