Mangluru: Eight-year-old Rushabh Rao from Kulasekara, Mangaluru, has secured first place in the Prince category at the International Fashion Show Competition organised by Fashion Runway International in Vietnam from August 13–17. He also received the Super Talent Award for his outstanding performance.
From national to international stage
Earlier in May, Rushabh clinched first place in the Prince category at the Junior International Model Fashion Show Competition held in Goa, earning him the opportunity to represent India at the global level. His mentor, actor-director Rahul Amin, shared the achievement at a press conference, calling it a proud moment for Karnataka and India.
Early start in dance and acting
Rushabh’s father, Rakshit Rao, said his son began learning dance at the age of four and participated in multiple competitions, winning several awards. He later ventured into acting, featuring in three Tulu films and one Kannada serial, which helped him overcome stage fright and gain confidence for the ramp.
“We initially wanted him to gain exposure by participating in a fashion show. But to our surprise, he not only won but also earned a place at the international level,” said Rakshit Rao.
Rushabh is a Class 3 student at Lourdes School, Bejai, and expressed his joy at winning the top honour internationally.
Mentors and support team
National Director Varsha Devadiga, dance trainer Naveen Shetty, costume designer Varsha V. Acharya, and mother Ashwini were also present at the press meet to celebrate his success.
