As Independence Day approaches, the Mangaluru City Corporation has urged citizens to honor the national flag with the utmost respect and patriotism. Commissioner Anand C L emphasized the importance of adhering to the Indian Flag Code, specifically calling on the public to avoid using plastic flags during the celebrations.
Commissioner Anand stressed the significance of using khadi cloth flags, which symbolize the country’s rich heritage. He warned that any violation of the Flag Code, including the use of non-compliant flags, would result in strict legal action, as disrespecting the national flag is a serious offense.
The Commissioner reiterated that cloth flags must be used in all official and public displays during Independence Day. He also reminded citizens that the flag should only be hoisted after sunrise and must be lowered before sunset, as per the guidelines. Keeping the flag hoisted at night is strictly prohibited, underscoring the need for all citizens to observe these protocols with sincerity.
