Mangaluru is gearing up for its renowned Dussehra celebrations, also known as Kudroli Sri Gokarnath Kshetra’s Navratri Mahotsav. Former Minister B. Janardana Poojary announced that the festivities will take place from the 3rd to the 14th of October, with several development projects in the area expected to be completed by the 14th.
Inauguration and Events
The Dussehra festival will be inaugurated by Janardana Poojary on October 3rd at 8:30 am with the *Navadurgeya* and *Sharada Pratishthe*. The celebrations will feature daily religious and cultural programs, ensuring a vibrant atmosphere throughout the festival.
Half Marathon and Cultural Events
A 21-kilometre half marathon is scheduled for October 6th at 5:30 am, with over 2,000 participants expected from across the country. The event promises to showcase the city’s enthusiasm and energy.
Shobhayatra and Procession
The grand finale, *Shobhayatra*, will commence on October 13th at 4 pm from Kudroli Field. The procession will include folk and cultural dance troupes, *chende* instruments from Kerala, and artistic performances from various districts and states, making it a spectacular display of diversity and creativity.
Preparations and Decorations
Deval Development Committee member Harikrishna Bantwal emphasized the importance of decorating the city’s buildings and roads to enhance the festival’s grandeur. With all preparations in place, Mangaluru is set to witness a magnificent Dussehra celebration.
