Mangaluru: In an incident that has garnered significant attention, a group of youths intercepted a private bus and allegedly attempted to assault the driver on the streets of Vamanjoor. The incident, involving a private bus named APM, which was operating between Mangaluru and Moodbidri, was captured on video and has since gone viral on social media.
The altercation reportedly occurred when a group of Muslim youths, identified as Rafi Afridi, Akbar, Zakir Hussain, Sahil, Mayati, and Badruddin, stopped the bus mid-route and confronted the driver. In the video, one of the youths is seen verbally abusing the driver and demanding he step out of the vehicle. The situation quickly escalated, creating panic among passengers, and led to a scuffle between the bus staff and the group.
Following the incident, the Kankanady Rural Police in Vamanjoor registered a case, and the youths involved were taken into custody. They were charged under Section 119(4) of the BNS for creating public disturbance. However, after both parties expressed a willingness to resolve the matter without formal complaints, the case was settled amicably. The youths were subsequently released on an undertaking.
This incident highlights ongoing concerns about road safety and the need for quick resolution of disputes that can otherwise disrupt public peace and safety.
