Mangaluru: The Lourdite community came together on February 11 to celebrate the feast of their patroness, Our Lady of Lourdes, with enthusiasm and fervor. The celebration, held at the LCS grounds, was graced by notable dignitaries, including Fr Peter Mascarenhas, former chairman of the Montfort Fathers Society, India, who served as the chief guest.

Among the distinguished attendees were Dr John Baptist Saldanha, manager of LCS, Fr Johnson L Sequeira, principal, Fr Norman Mathias, Belita Mascarenhas, Anita Thomas (vice principals), Ashok Pinto (vice president), and Avitha Pinto (secretary of Bejai Parish Pastoral Parishad). The event began with a prayer service, followed by a warm welcome address by Fr Johnson L Sequeira.

Students of class 6 brought the significance of the day to life with a skit, highlighting the importance of the feast and its relevance to the Lourdite community. Angelin Shinoj and Joanna expressed heartfelt gratitude on behalf of the community for the opportunity to celebrate their patroness together.

Fr Peter Mascarenhas delivered an inspiring address, emphasizing faith and devotion. Dr John Baptist Saldanha also spoke, offering encouraging words and reinforcing the school’s mission.

The celebration included a vibrant cultural program featuring a dance performance and a skit, showcasing the students’ creativity and devotion under the guidance of their teachers. The event concluded with a birthday prayer for children, the school anthem, and a Eucharistic celebration. The program was compered by students Jayden Pinto and Lancia Pais.

In addition, the school successfully conducted a collection drive, gathering daily use items and groceries for local Ashrams, demonstrating their commitment to community service.
