Mangaluru: Health officials in Mangaluru are on high alert as they investigate a suspected case of monkeypox, potentially the first in Karnataka. A man recently returned from Dubai and exhibited symptoms consistent with the virus.

The state health department has sent his samples to Victoria Hospital in Bengaluru for testing. Preliminary findings reportedly confirm the presence of the MPox virus, according to hospital sources. An official notification has been sent to the Karnataka government, with an announcement expected once the final report is confirmed.

Monkeypox is a viral disease that spreads through close contact. Symptoms include fever, rashes, and swollen lymph nodes. Authorities are urging the public to remain cautious and follow preventive measures.
