In a determined move to curb online hate, Mangaluru City Police have arrested five individuals for allegedly circulating provocative content aimed at disturbing communal harmony in the city and surrounding Dakshina Kannada district.
Acting on intelligence, special investigation teams formed by the City Commissionerate tracked and apprehended the accused. All arrests have been made under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), with investigations ongoing.
Case 1:
Mohammad Aslam (23) from Hejamady, Udupi, was arrested for managing the Instagram handle team_jokerzzz._ from Saudi Arabia. Registered under Crime No. 88/2025 at Mangaluru South Police Station, he was booked under Sections 192 and 353(2) of the BNS. A Lookout Circular (LOC) enabled his arrest.
Case 2:
Chetan (20) and Nithin Adapa (23), operating team_karna_surathkal, used a SIM registered in a Muslim name to share offensive content via alias Chennappa/Muthu Suratkal. Booked under Crime No. 58/2025, Sections 196(1) and 353(2) at Mangaluru North PS.
Case 3:
Riyaaz Ibrahim (30) of Farangipete was arrested for posts from Beary_royal_nawab, managed from Saudi Arabia. Cases filed under Crime Nos. 44/2025 (Barke) and 42/2025 (Mulki) with Sections 353(1)(c) and 353(2).
Case 4:
Jamaal Zakir (21) of Kuloor allegedly ran Troll_bengare_ro_makka. Case registered at Mulki PS under Crime No. 44/2025, Sections 353(1)(c) and 353(2).
Case 5:
Guru Prasad from Kolavail, Haleangadi, was arrested for incendiary content via Guru dprasad Haleyangadi on Facebook. He faces charges under Crime No. 53/2025, Sections 196(1)(A), 353(2), 79, and 56.
All cases are under probe by CEN Crime Police under the supervision of Commissioner Sudheer Kumar Reddy, IPS, and DCPs Siddharth Goyal and Ravishankar.
