Mangaluru, June 13, 2024: In response to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways’ directive to use mobile speed radar guns, Mangaluru City police held a crucial meeting on Thursday, June 13, 2024, to discuss the implementation of this new road safety measure.
The road safety meeting was chaired by city police commissioner Anupam Agrawal. The primary focus was on the introduction of mobile speed radar guns to monitor and control rash and negligent driving on national and state highways, as well as other roads within the city police commissionerate limits. Commissioner Agrawal emphasized the importance of this initiative in curbing overspeeding and reducing the accident rates in the city.
Action will be taken against motorists who violate speed limits, and stringent measures will be enforced to ensure compliance. To support this initiative, boards displaying the speed limit will be erected on all major roads. This approach aims to create awareness among drivers about speed regulations and enhance overall road safety in Mangaluru.
DCP (Crime and Traffic) BP Dinesh Kumar, NHAI Project Director Abdulla Javed Azmi, PIU Anirudh Kamath, PWD JE Loyd D’Silva, Mangaluru Smart City AEE Manjukeerthi S, and officers from MCC, including Jnanesh, MN Shivalingappa, and Mithun, were present at the meeting. Their collaboration highlights the collective effort of various departments to address the issue of overspeeding and ensure safer roads for all citizens.
