In an intensified effort against the drug trade, Mangaluru police recently apprehended two men suspected of trafficking MDMA near Permude Panchayat Cross, roughly 15 kilometers from the city. The arrest, spearheaded by PSI Revanasiddappa and his team from Bajpe Station, targeted alleged drug suppliers identified as Umar Farooq (38), hailing from Jokatte, and Mohammad Abdul Junaid (34), a resident of Jarinagar in Bajpe.

During the operation, law enforcement officers confiscated 9.11 grams of MDMA (Crystal) estimated to be worth ₹50,000. The team also seized two mobile phones and a motorcycle, believed to have been used in the illicit activities. Police reported that the operation was planned based on intelligence gathered over time, as part of ongoing efforts to curtail narcotics trafficking within the region.

Following their capture, the accused were presented in court, where they were remanded to judicial custody pending further investigation. This arrest marks another significant step in the regional campaign to disrupt the narcotics trade and protect communities from the adverse impacts of drug abuse.

Police have encouraged the public to report suspicious activity, assuring them of prompt action in curbing drug-related issues.
