Mangaluru: The City Crime Branch (CCB) has arrested the prime suspect in a major job fraud case involving false promises of overseas employment.
According to an official press release by Mangaluru city police, the accused allegedly took Rs 1.65 lakh from one individual under the pretext of securing an international job. As the investigation progressed, it became clear that multiple youth were duped, with the total amount of fraud estimated at Rs 1.82 crore.
The accused has been identified as Masiwulla Ativulla Khan (36), son of Ativulla Khan, and a resident of Mumbai. He is now in CCB custody for further inquiry.
Police records show that Khan was previously booked in December 2024 at the Mangaluru East Police Station, following a complaint filed by immigration officials. He was accused of running an unauthorised recruitment firm promising jobs abroad.
Both cases have since been merged and handed over to the CCB, which is now leading the investigation. Authorities are continuing efforts to trace other potential victims and recover the siphoned funds.
