Residents of KPT and Padua in Mangaluru are expressing frustration over deteriorating roads and bus stops, demanding immediate action from authorities and political parties. The road from KPT to Padua is vital for commuters but has worsened due to negligence from officials.
A Padua resident stated, “The bus stop, built under the Mangaluru Smart City project, was never fully functional. It’s now mainly used by homeless people and drunkards, making it unsafe for women, especially during rain. College girls are often mistreated by drunkards, which is embarrassing. Strict action should be taken against them.”
A biker added, “The roads are small and overcrowded. During peak hours, city buses occupy most of the road, forcing bikes onto the damaged footpaths. These footpaths are filled with rainwater craters, posing a danger, especially at night.”
A student highlighted, “The bus stop is dirty and frequented by drunkards. It could have been better located. The roads and footpaths are in terrible condition, making it scary to drive, especially since this is a highway. Large vehicles like lorries do not see smaller vehicles, making it difficult to ride. Closing the road for repairs would cause significant issues for daily commuters, particularly students.”
Residents call for immediate improvements to the roads and bus stops to ensure safety and convenience for all commuters.
