Mangaluru: A tragic incident occurred in the city as a police head constable from the Mangaluru North Traffic Police Station died after allegedly consuming rat poison, mistaking it for medication.
The deceased has been identified as 44-year-old Manjunath Hegde, a resident of Chelyaru near Surathkal and originally from Harekala.
According to sources, Hegde was undergoing Ayurvedic treatment for a health issue. It is believed he accidentally ingested rat poison, assuming it was part of his prescribed remedies.
He was immediately rushed to the hospital in a critical condition, but despite medical efforts, he could not be saved.
Manjunath Hegde is survived by his wife and two children.
