A woman from Mangaluru allegedly lost Rs 28.18 lakh in a fraudulent part-time job scam. According to her complaint, on July 21, she received a WhatsApp message offering a part-time job, which directed her to download the Telegram app. Once on the app, the accused provided a link and instructed her to transfer Rs 123 as an initial step.

When she sought more information, the scammers sent her a video and requested a screenshot after she watched it. They then asked her to transfer Rs 130, claiming the first video was incorrect, and followed up with another request for Rs 1,000. After complying, she received a link that falsely showed an increased amount of Rs 1,300, which the scammers returned to her account to gain her trust.

Over the following days, the woman made multiple transfers, totaling Rs 28.18 lakh from two separate bank accounts, enticed by promises of high returns. Initially hesitant to report the fraud, she eventually informed her family, leading to the registration of a complaint at the Konaje Police Station.
