Mangaluru: MCC Bank Ltd. marked 114 years of dedicated service by inaugurating its 22nd branch and a new ATM at Deralakatte on Sunday. The new branch, located on the ground floor of the Fr Muller Complex, is part of the Bank’s continued expansion across Karnataka.

The branch was inaugurated by Sahakara Ratna Shri Anil Lobo, Chairman of MCC Bank Ltd. The ATM was inaugurated by Rev. Fr Nilesh Crasta, Administrator of Father Muller Homoeopathic College, Deralakatte. Rev. Sr Milli Fernandes, Superior General of the Ursuline Franciscan Sisters, inaugurated the Safe Room, while Rev. Fr Nelson Deeraj Pais, Administrator of Father Muller Homoeopathic Pharmaceutical Division (FMHPD), launched the Bank’s E-Stamp facility. The new premises were blessed by Rev. Fr Victor D’Mello, Parish Priest of Our Lady of Mercy Church, Panir.

MCC Bank reaffirms commitment to customer-centric banking

The programme was presided over by Chairman Shri Anil Lobo, while Rev. Sr Milli Fernandes attended as the Chief Guest. Guests of Honour included Rev. Fr Nilesh Crasta and Mrs Divya Sathish Shetty, President of Kotekar Gram Panchayat. Vice Chairman Mr Jerald Jude D’Silva and General Manager Mr Sunil Menezes were also present.

In his presidential address, Shri Anil Lobo reaffirmed MCC Bank’s commitment to cooperative banking and customer service. Thanking the people of Deralakatte for their warm welcome, he expressed confidence that the new branch would contribute significantly to the region’s financial growth.

He highlighted that MCC Bank has earned public trust by prioritising customer needs while operating strictly under Reserve Bank of India (RBI) guidelines. He also assured customers that eligible deposits are protected under the Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation (DICGC) scheme.

Shri Lobo noted that under the present leadership, the Bank has opened five new branches, each achieving a business turnover of ₹10 crore within its first year. He attributed this success to the dedication of employees and the confidence reposed by customers.

Speaking about future expansion, he said prudent financial management and regulatory compliance have enabled the Bank to safeguard public funds while continuing its growth journey. Referring to Deralakatte’s rapid development, he said the presence of reputed educational institutions, hospitals and IT companies makes it an ideal location for banking services.

Speakers highlight service, trust and community development

Addressing the gathering, Rev. Fr Victor D’Mello described the inauguration as a blessed occasion and prayed for the Bank’s continued growth. He urged staff members to treat every customer with dignity and respect, regardless of their background.

“Serving people is serving God,” he remarked, encouraging employees to uphold compassion and sincerity while delivering banking services. He also expressed hope that MCC Bank would continue promoting communal harmony through inclusive banking.

Chief Guest Rev. Sr Milli Fernandes said the opening of the Deralakatte branch marked another milestone in the Bank’s journey. She observed that MCC Bank has earned public confidence by mobilising deposits and extending financial assistance that supports families, businesses and the local economy.

Congratulating the Bank, Rev. Fr Nilesh Crasta noted that both Father Muller Charitable Institutions, with a 146-year legacy, and MCC Bank, with 114 years of service, were founded on the principles of trust, service and humanity.

He emphasised the importance of holistic development and stated that banking plays a vital role in personal and community progress.

“Banking enables people to meet their broader financial needs. May MCC Bank guide the people of Deralakatte in planning their finances. May both institutions continue to grow in trust and serve with the same commitment,” he said.

Mrs Divya Sathish Shetty congratulated the Bank on its expansion and wished it continued success across Mangaluru and surrounding regions while urging residents to support the institution.

Bank honours achievers and extends financial assistance

As part of its community outreach initiatives, MCC Bank honoured several achievers from the region, including Mr Franky Francis Cutinha, Mr Alwyn Jerome D’Souza, Mr Fayaz Madoor, CA Maxim Fernandes, Mr Uggappa Poojary, and Mr Shafi Babbukatte for their contributions in various fields.

The Bank also distributed financial assistance to several organisations and individuals, including:

  • ₹1 lakh to the Ursuline Sisters’ Special School for Differently Abled Children
  • ₹25,000 towards the education of Ms Princita D’Souza
  • ₹50,000 to Mercy Care Charitable Trust
  • ₹1 lakh to Olavinahalli Ashram

Engineer Mr Karthik Kiran, who was associated with the interior works of the new branch, was also felicitated.

The event featured the MCC Bank Anthem, a prayer song by staff members, and a documentary showcasing the Bank’s history and achievements. Mementoes were presented to the Chief Guest and Guests of Honour.
