Mangaluru: MCC Bank Ltd. relocated its Morgansgate Branch to a new and modern premises at Ground Floor, H.H. Diamond City Building, Marnamikatte Road, Mangaluru, on Saturday, coinciding with the completion of 31 years of the branch’s service.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by bank officials, dignitaries, customers, and well-wishers, celebrating another milestone in the cooperative bank’s growth and customer service journey.

New branch premises inaugurated

The programme was presided over by Sahakara Ratna Shri Anil Lobo, Chairman of MCC Bank.

The new premises were blessed by Rev. Fr. Rithesh Rodrigues, Parish Priest of St. Rita Church, Cascia. The safe deposit locker facility was inaugurated by Shri James Victor D’Mello, former Director of MCC Bank and former Corporator of Mangaluru City Corporation; Shri Francis Fernandes Cascia, philanthropist, playwright, director and actor; and Shri Krishna Bindumane, proprietor of Health Mart, Mangaluru.

Chairman outlines growth and expansion plans

Addressing the gathering, Shri Anil Lobo thanked the Board of Directors, management, staff, customers, and well-wishers for their continued support and described MCC Bank as a “Bank of the People.”

He said the bank, established in 1912, has built a legacy of trust and service while operating under the regulatory framework of the Reserve Bank of India and the Government of Karnataka. He also assured customers that deposits are protected under the Deposit Insurance and Credit Guarantee Corporation (DICGC) scheme.

Highlighting the bank’s performance, he said MCC Bank has recorded significant growth over the past eight years while maintaining healthy banking parameters, including Non-Performing Assets (NPA), Loans and Advances, CASA, Statutory Liquidity Ratio (SLR), Cash Reserve Ratio (CRR), and Credit-Deposit (CD) Ratio.

He noted that among Karnataka’s 262 Urban Cooperative Banks, MCC Bank is the only cooperative bank offering specialised NRI banking services, with NRE deposits exceeding ₹100 crore.

Announcing future initiatives, the Chairman said the bank would inaugurate its 23rd branch at Katpadi on August 2, with plans to expand to 25 branches before the end of the current financial year. He also announced that UPI services are expected to be introduced by December 2026 to enhance digital banking facilities.

Guests praise bank’s progress

Speaking on the occasion, Rev. Fr. Rithesh Rodrigues congratulated the Chairman, Board of Directors, management, staff, and customers on the relocation of the branch and wished the institution continued success.

Guest of Honour Shri James Victor D’Mello described the bank’s transformation since 2018 as remarkable, noting that its business turnover had increased from ₹500 crore to ₹1,565 crore while six new branches had been added during the period.

He credited the leadership of Shri Anil Lobo, along with the Board, management, staff, and customers, for guiding the bank into what he described as its “Golden Era.” He also appreciated MCC Bank’s contributions towards education, social service, and community welfare.

Shri Francis Fernandes Cascia acknowledged the confidence reposed by customers in the bank and wished it continued growth, while Shri Krishna Bindumane, a long-time customer, appreciated the bank’s customer-friendly services and congratulated the management on the new milestone.

Academic achievers and social contributors honoured

As part of the celebrations, academic achievers Kum. Karen D’Cruz and Kum. Kinara D’Cruz were felicitated for their educational accomplishments.

Former Morgansgate Branch Manager Smt. Jacintha Serrao was honoured on the occasion of her birthday in recognition of her dedicated service to the bank.

Social contributors Shri James Victor D’Mello and Shri Francis Fernandes Cascia were also felicitated, while the Chairman presented mementoes to the distinguished guests.

The programme began with a devotional prayer song by the bank staff, followed by the screening of a documentary showcasing MCC Bank’s history, achievements, and future vision.
