Mangaluru: The new team of office bearers of Milagres Toastmasters for 2024-25, led by president TM Akarsh H, was installed on Sunday, July 14, at Monica Hall, Milagres Church Compound. The installation ceremony was themed ‘The Avengers’.
Dr. Veena Shetty, professor at K S Hegde Medical Academy, graced the event as the chief guest. In her enlightening speech, she addressed the theme ‘The Avengers’ and blended it with Toastmasters’ core values of respect, integrity, service, and excellence. To explain the importance of communication, she drew on her expertise in microbiology and noted that even different bacteria communicate with each other.
TM Leona Aranha served as Sergeant at Arms for the event. The outgoing president, TM Francis Rego, delivered the last speech of his presidential term, thanking his executive team, club members, and the Toastmasters of Mangaluru for their support during his tenure.
The Outstanding Toastmaster Award was given to TM Azma Sheikh. TM Cavya Shetty presented a detailed secretary’s report, highlighting the events, achievements, and updates of the club during the term 2023-2024. TM Amita enthusiastically introduced the team of office bearers.
TM Shishir introduced the Area Director, TM Sharline Rodrigues, who then installed the following officers: TM Akarsh H as President, TM Sherwin Menezes as VP Education, TM Christopher Sequeira as VP Membership, TM Akash Rao as VP Public Relations, TM Shishir Rai as Secretary, TM Cavya Shetty as Treasurer, and TM Poojitha Shetty as Sergeant at Arms. In her address, she congratulated the outgoing executive team and wished the best for the incoming team. The chief guest, Dr. Veena Shetty, and the Division Director, DTM Jyothika Shetty, were introduced by TM Poojitha Shetty.
Father Bonaventure Nazareth of Milagres Church gave his best wishes and encouraged the Toastmasters to continue having meetings in the church compound. TM Azma Sheikh graciously handled the felicitations, where representatives of different clubs of Division F showered the club with well wishes and support. TM Leona Aranha concluded the program with a heartfelt vote of thanks.
The entire program was diligently held together by the anchor, TM Akash Rao.
The ceremony was attended by many distinguished Toastmasters from Mangaluru.
Milagres Toastmasters was chartered on October 18, 2012, and since then, the club has provided a supportive and encouraging environment to help its members grow as communicators and leaders. Milagres Toastmasters meets every alternate Sunday at 9:30 am in Monica Hall, Milagres Church Compound.
