Uggappa Poojary, a 70-year-old resident of Nagavalachil in Sajipamunnur village, was reported missing on November 5 after returning home from a bank visit. Tragically, his lifeless body was discovered the same day on railway tracks in Ullal.

Poojary had gone to a bank in Panemangaluru to withdraw his old-age pension and returned home briefly before stepping out again. Before leaving, he made a short call to his daughter-in-law but left his mobile phone behind. When he didn’t return, his son Anil lodged a missing person complaint at the Bantwal city police station.

On November 5, an unidentified body was found on the Ullal railway tracks and was moved to the Wenlock Hospital mortuary. It wasn’t until November 14 that the family identified the remains as those of Poojary.

A case has been registered at the Mangaluru railway police station, and investigations are underway to uncover the circumstances surrounding his death.
