Puttur: Puttur MLA Ashok Kumar Rai confirmed the arrest of Krishna Rao, the accused in a sensitive case involving a young woman and her newborn child. The legislator visited the victim’s residence on Saturday, where he interacted with her mother and offered moral support to the family.

Speaking to the media following his visit, MLA Rai said the Superintendent of Police (SP) had promptly informed him about the case. A dedicated search team was quickly formed, leading to Krishna Rao’s arrest by 8 PM on Friday night.

MLA Rai stressed that the matter should not be turned into a political issue. “We must focus on the well-being and future of the girl and the child. If any other party were in my position, they might have used this for political gain. But I chose not to,” he stated. He further added, “Our objective is to reunite the two individuals and ensure justice.”

He also expressed disappointment over the comments made by Arun Kumar Puttila, questioning whether they were made thoughtfully. Addressing a viral photo linking the accused to Puttila, Rai said, “The boy may have worked with him, but I won’t comment further. Our goal is to resolve the matter sensitively.”

Leaders including Kavu Hemanath Shetty, Krishnaprasad Alva, Nihal Shetty, and Jayaprakash Badinaru accompanied the MLA during his visit.
