Mangalore City South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath has issued a strong warning, stating that if the ongoing controversy regarding the mobile jammer at the Mangaluru prison is not resolved by April 3, BJP members along with the general public will stage a rastha rokho protest on April 4. He went a step further, cautioning that they might even storm the jail to dismantle the jammer themselves.

The legislator highlighted how the jammer’s installation has become a serious inconvenience for residents and professionals within a three-kilometer radius. Several individuals, including those working in government departments, court offices, legal chambers, and commercial establishments, have reported severe disruption in mobile connectivity.

According to complaints, the signal-blocking device is preventing people from making urgent calls, hampering vital services, particularly in medical emergencies. Many have voiced frustration over their inability to reach hospitals, law enforcement, or essential contacts in critical situations.

The MLA, along with members of BJP’s Mangalore City South unit, met with the prison superintendent, pressing for an immediate solution. He insisted that the jammer should function strictly within the prison premises to prevent undue hardship for the public.

Kamath urged authorities to act swiftly, warning that continued negligence could spark public outrage. He reaffirmed that if no action is taken, they will not hesitate to take matters into their own hands.
