Mangaluru – MLA Vedavyasa Kamath has called on the government to revive the long-delayed housing project in Shaktinagar under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) 2.0, stating that all legal and administrative hurdles have now been cleared.
He recalled that in 2017, former MLAs had distributed land title deeds to 930 economically weaker families and even performed the traditional hoe puja to mark the beginning of construction. However, the project was stalled after the area was classified as deemed forest, leading to objections from the Forest Department.
Kamath highlighted that beneficiaries have been waiting for years, holding their title deeds but seeing no progress. Since assuming office, he said he has engaged in continuous discussions with government officials and forest authorities to resolve the matter.
“After four years of persistent efforts, the obstacles have finally been cleared. I urge the government to begin construction immediately under PMAY 2.0 and fulfill the promise made to these families,” Kamath stated.
