A mobile phone explosion while charging triggered a devastating fire early Saturday morning, destroying an entire house in Marathappa Shetty Colony, 11th Cross, Tellaru Road. The explosion, which occurred around 4 am, resulted in massive damage, with losses running into several lakhs of rupees at the residence of Kishore Kumar Shetty.

The phone, which was placed on a sofa, exploded and instantly ignited a fierce blaze that quickly spread throughout the two-storey house with six rooms. Firefighters rushed to the scene after being notified, battling the flames for over two and a half hours before managing to bring the fire under control. It’s believed that the air conditioner, which was on at the time, helped the fire spread faster.

Kishore Kumar Shetty, the homeowner, suffered minor injuries in the incident. The local firefighting team, led by Station Officer Alpert Monis, along with community leaders such as Hariprasad Shettigar, driver Jaya Moolya, and Ravichandra, played a key role in extinguishing the flames.

This tragic event highlights the potential risks of mobile devices when charging and the rapid spread of fires in homes. Authorities are continuing their investigation into the full cause of the explosion.
